This Hand-Built Italian Superbike Is the Pinnacle of Motorcycle Awesomeness

Italian superbike specialist MV Agusta has launched a new custom-build division it calls Reparto Veicoli Speciali, which is rolling out its first hand-built, limited production model, the RVS#1.

This striking naked superbike is powered by MV’s signature 150 horsepower 798cc three-cylinder engine to go with its amazing styling.

“Wherever you look, every angle of this bike has got something special about it,” enthused Adrian Morton, MV Agusta’s design director. “With this project, we were allowed a little more freedom in a way, to have a bit of fun,” he said.

“So it is always nice for a designer to have a little bit of freedom to do something a little bit special, a little bit unique that perhaps you don’t always have the opportunity to do something like that every day of the week.”

Morton points to details such as the footpegs that are machined in-house specifically for this bike, its titanium styling inserts and its dramatic LED headlight as examples of the over-the-top indulgences permitted by a hand-built machine like the RVS#1.

That headlight doesn’t just look good, it is intelligent too, using an integrated inertial system illuminating the individual LED elements based on lean angle and speed to shine light on the correct part of the road ahead.

It is MV’s most powerful three-cylinder bike, setting new  power-weight ratio standard for the company at just 352 pounds.

Chassis is essential, light and designed specifically for unrivalled dynamic performance. The steel framework has been completed and enhanced with new aviation grade aluminum lateral plates.

Government regulations require a boringly quiet exhaust comes standard with the bike, but the RVS#1 includes a kit of bolt-on parts that include a “track-only” titanium exhaust that gives the bike its intended voice while trimming more weight.

The RVS#1 rolls on custom-machined Kineo spoke wheels, with Pirelli MT 60 RS tires for maximum performance.
